Greetings, Fisherfolks!

I wanted to invite you to join in cleaning up our local fishing spot, the Bowtie Parcel at the LA River State Park. We’re working in conjunction with Heal the Bay to clean up our local waterways and we need help in conserving our local spots.

We’ll be gathering at the Bowtie Parcel at 9 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 21, and we’ll provide the stuff necessary to get it done. Bring a friend with you and please sign up for the cleanup on Eventbright by clicking on the image below.

Once again, CHUM, Southern California’s “KILLerist” surf band is confirmed to play the entire cleanup.

As an added bonus, get there early on the 21st and go fishing.

So if you want to sharpen your skills and enjoy a day on the water, bring your fishing poles and we’ll have some fun.

See you on the river, Bob Blankenship, Trout Unlimited, South Coast Chapter

The salmon is in tears … and so am I. We all are greatly negatively impacted by the loss of the wild salmon and its habitat.

A man made perfect storm of destruction is aimed directly for the salmons’ home and natural habitat, Bristol Bay and its tributaries.

This Category FIVE Storm of devastating environmental destruction of the Salmon is being done by the President in the name of exploitation of mineral resources at Pebble Mine. In a word… GREED!

This from CNN: The EPA told staff scientists that it was no longer opposing a controversial Alaska mining project that could devastate one of the world’s most valuable wild salmon fisheries, just one day after President Trump met with Alaska’s governor, CNN has learned. https://cnn.it/20MAxg5

If you wish to join the fight against the shameful actions of this administration, then please visit this website to become informed:
http://www.savebristolbay.org/

If you wish to support the fight directly, please help me in raising money for Bristol Bay Heritage Land Trust where your contribution will make a direct impact.

Every little bit helps. The salmon and I both Thank you for your support. I’ve included information about Bristol Bay Heritage Land Trust below.

PLEASE share this post! It is set to ‘public’ so that anyone can view or share it.

The Bristol Bay Heritage Land Trust is dedicated to the preservation and protection of salmon and wildlife habitat of the greater Bristol Bay region of southwest Alaska, including the Wood/Tikchik State Park and the Togiak National Wildlife Refuge. Quick mends: Getting real ‘buy in’ as a river activist

From the Los Angeles Times:

“The unlikely series of events that brought the parcel into Appleton’s hands began with a 2017 Times article that detailed several hundred properties in the river channel that were owned by individuals and companies. For reasons unknown, those properties were bypassed — and mostly forgotten by their owners — when the Los Angeles County Flood Control District acquired title to most of the river.”
