Quick mends: KPCC’s photo carousel just in time for ARBOR public hearing

Just in time to rouse your river passions for tonight’s U.S. Army Corps hearing comes KPCC’s Photos: Angelenos share their L.A. River stories. OK, I’m in it (shameless self promotion), but the point is if you haven’t ever been to the river, take a look at what the site’s social media editor Kristen Lepore has put together, all from crowd sourcing.  Awareness of what our river is — and what it can become — continues to grow.

You can watch the hearing live here.

See you on the river, Jim Burns

  1. I walked over the LA river on Los Feliz blvd.. The overpass between Griffith Park and Atwater village. I saw islands on both sides of the overpass. Obviously, created by the silt and other natural debris piling up over the years. The water wasn’t deep either.
So, would the LA river exist if there was no concrete? Since the population has doubled and it looks like LA doesn’t get as much rain as it used to, would the LA river actually run to the bay 24/7/365?
There should be a definite answer to that and if there isn’t, well with a billion plus in spending on the line, and no proof, you got your answer too.
