Join the Ides of March postcard campaign for national parks and public lands

Tomorrow (that’s right, the Ides of March when Julius Caesar was assassinated), I’ll be mailing this postcard to Donald Trump protesting his abuse of our public lands. It reads simply, “Hands off national parks, public lands, national monuments and the federal employees who protect and maintain them.”

President Donald Trump

White House

1600 Pennsylvania Ave. NW

Washington, DC 20500

Pretty simple. Please join me and thousands of others in this simple way to voice your opposition. Don’t wait until your national park vacation to find out it’s different this year.

See you on the river, Jim Burns

  1. You’re assuming, then, that zero funds are being wasted or inefficiently spent within the US Parks Service?

  2. How, specifically, is Trump abusing our public lands? You don’t believe, apparently, that every aspect of Government can be more efficient, spending our tax dollars more effectively?

    1. Your rhetoric has me believing that any large organization doesn’t have inefficiencies, which I don’t believe. However, how those inefficiencies are moderated is not what I’m seeing from the White House. What line of work are you in, Brian?

      1. Rhetoric? Really? Every organization, commercial or governmental, can improve the way it operates and spends its capital. While irrelevant to this topic, I’m retired after 40+ years in finance and technology.

    Hey Jim,

Well, I hope the DOGE waste cutting goes to better funding for the Park Service which is understaffed and underfunded already. One hopes.

I’ve been fishing off of the West Fork drainage and having a lot of fun in new waters. Once you get 20 minutes beyond the confluence -and the weekenders- the fishing picks up pretty nicely. I managed a nice 13+ incher from behind two rocks that surprised me. Mostly you catch “Niners” and under, so this was a real kick in the pants for excitement. I have a13″x7″ bag and he wouldn’t fit. It took three tries to get him in. All my catches were using Tenkara, and a short one at that, like around 8 feet, so all my fish are caught within 20 feet. I’m amazed at how effective it has been, but now I’m thinking I need to go up with my 2 weight and leave the Tenkara’s in the car and develop those skills too!

Hoping your transition has been smooth!

    All the Best!
